Golf Classic to Benefit The Culinary Institute of America
Thomas Keller’s culinary career is an inspiration to all culinary students. Thomas's passion for food and mentorship is matched only by his enthusiasm for golf. The CIA created the Thomas Keller Golf Classic to Benefit The Culinary Institute of America, a fun-filled event in the Napa Valley to raise scholarship funds for CIA students.
The one-day event kicks off on Monday morning with the golf outing at Silverado Resort and Spa, in a scramble format with a shotgun start, followed by dinner reservations at The Grove at The CIA at Copia. Last year’s event was a tremendous success. Festive and fun—with a healthy dose of friendly competition thrown in—the two days raised over $500,000 in student scholarships!
This year the tournament was moved to November 9th due to Covid. It was a beautiful fall day, sunny and warm. When we caught up with the golfers everyone was in great spirits, lots of laughs all around.

On Saturday, June 23rd the Oakland Zoo held its 26th Annual “Walk in the Wild” gala fundraising event. Cultivar was thrilled to support this self-described “Epicurean Escapade” as a beer sponsor for the second year in a row. This unique event allows guests to sample cuisine from the Bay Area’s top chefs and restaurants, wineries, and microbreweries while getting an extra special peek at the animals out past their normal bedtimes. It’s all in the name of animal stewardship with funds from event supporting the zoo’s efforts in conservation, education, and animal care programs. This year also included an exclusive sneak peek for VIP ticket holders of the new California Trail exhibit before it opens to the public on July 12th.
We were located right next to the zebras and our friends from Firestone Walker Brewery. The zebras enjoyed munching on special grasses and plants strategically placed so that visitors to our booth could catch a glimpse. Before the main event the team got a chance to see tigers chewing on large meaty bones, alligators slowly floating through the water, otters frolicking, gibbons swinging from trees, and giraffes peacefully strolling through their habitat.
During the main event we poured our signature California IPA and our new Summer Hefe Weizen with fresh slices of lemon. It’s always fun to meet new people at events and share our story while trying new treats from other vendors. The hot pastrami sandwich prepared on site by Oakland’s Wood Tavern was definitely a highlight. It tasted great with both of our beers!
After the sun went down, and the booth was closed, we capped off the night with desserts and dancing to live music from high-energy cover band Apple Z from Sacramento. A wonderful time was had by all, and we hope to return next year!
Almost 10 years ago to the date, Riva Cucina hosted their first winemaker dinner at Riva Cucina with our dear friends, Julien and Elan Fayard. It was a special night indeed, as the four of us were just starting our new ventures. We now have the wonderful opportunity to bring this amazing team together again for another first winemaker dinner, this time at the newly-opened Marina wine bar, Cultivar San Francisco. Massi will be guest chef, pairing his cuisine with Julien's award-winning wines.
We hope you can join us for a wonderful evening, as we celebrate the opening of Cultivar SF and the wines of Julien Fayard.
We are thrilled to share a recent donation Cultivar Wine made to The Friends of James Beard Foundation Dinner held March 14th, 2016 at San Francisco's Lazy Bear Restaurant. This was an extremely intimate Fundraiser held benefiting the James Beard Foundation. Throughout the evening guests enjoyed various wine pairings with each course. See more of the fun and incredible food the various Chefs created at this amazing event.
Thanks again to the Golden Gate Restaurant Association and Lazy Bear Restaurant for organizing the event and including Cultivar Wine as a supporter. We are so happy to see it was a huge success and the guests loved the incredible food and wine pairings.

We had a blast at the recent Jonathan Adler Sip & Shop event held at their San Francisco Fillmore Street Boutique. Guests enjoyed 20% off Jonathan Adler shopping (what a deal, right!) while sipping on Cultivar Wine. We served our Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc and Napa Valley Rose which were a huge hit!
